Factor Affecting Solubility

The ability of a substance to dissolve in a solvent is quantitatively known as its solubility. The amount of solute in solution can be measured by analytical technique such as UV-spectrophotometer.

A standard solution will be prepared and the principles related to the Beer-Lambert Law will be examined. The standard curve will be used to determine the solubility.

Solubility is something the quantitative way of determining the amount of  the a solid or liquid or gas has ability to dessolve in another solid or liquid or gas.

The solubility of the substance   alters with the sorrounding conditions . which affects the amount of the substance that solubalise in the other substance . Some of theCommon factores affecting the solubility of a substance  are as given Below.

 Factors affecting Solubility:

  1. Temperature

  2. Molecular state of solute

  3. Nature of solvent

  4. Crystal characteristic

  5. Particle size of the solids

  6. pH

  7. Common ion effect

  8. Effect of non-electrolytes on the solubility of electrolytes

  9. Effect of electrolyte on the solubility of non-electrolyte

  10. Effect of complex formation

  11. Effect of surfactants
